Teenager Dies After Violent Assault in East Delhi

A 17-year-old student lost his life after allegedly being brutally assaulted by a group of juveniles in Trilokpuri, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place on Monday evening and has sparked concern over youth violence in residential areas.

Six juveniles have been apprehended in connection with the case, officials confirmed.

Victim Attacked by Group of Juveniles

The victim, identified as Mohit, was a Class 11 student. According to police, he was surrounded by several juveniles who repeatedly punched and kicked him during the assault.

Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania said the teenager collapsed after losing consciousness during the attack.

When a local resident attempted to intervene, the group allegedly assaulted him as well.

Teen Rushed to Hospital in Critical Condition

At around 7.25 pm on Monday, police received information from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital about an unconscious minor admitted with injuries caused by physical assault.

Mohit was examined at the hospital and later referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition. Doctors declared him unfit to record a statement.

Dispute Allegedly Triggered the Assault

An eyewitness told police that Mohit had an ongoing dispute with one of the juveniles from the same locality.

On Monday evening, a verbal argument reportedly broke out between the victim and the group.

The argument soon escalated into a physical confrontation, leading to the fatal assault, police said.

Death Confirmed Hours Later

Despite medical treatment, Mohit succumbed to his injuries. Police were informed about his death by GTB Hospital at around 1.15 am on Tuesday.

Following his death, a case of murder was registered at the local police station.

Crime Scene Examined, Juveniles Apprehended

Multiple teams were formed immediately to investigate the case. The Delhi Police Crime Team and forensic experts inspected the scene of the crime in Trilokpuri.

Based on eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigation, police apprehended six juveniles allegedly involved in the assault.

Officials said further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and motive behind the attack.

Investigation Continues

Police said they are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning witnesses to strengthen the case.

The incident has once again raised questions about juvenile violence and safety in urban neighbourhoods.
