Tej Pratap Yadav Files FIR Over Death Threats, Seeks Enhanced Security in Bihar
Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD) chief and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav has approached the police, alleging that his party’s expelled national spokesperson Santosh Renu Yadav has issued death threats against him. Following the complaint, an FIR has been registered at Patna’s Sachivalay police station, officials confirmed.
Tej Pratap has also written to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary, demanding enhanced security in view of the alleged threats. Choudhary acknowledged receiving the letter and said authorities are examining the matter.
FIR Registered, Police Begin Investigation
Sachivalay police station SHO Gautam Kumar confirmed that the FIR was filed based on Tej Pratap Yadav’s complaint. Police have started investigating the allegations and are examining the social media activity mentioned in the complaint.
Officials said further action would depend on the findings of the investigation and the evidence collected during the probe.
Allegations Against Expelled Party Spokesperson
In his complaint, Tej Pratap claimed that Santosh Renu Yadav was appointed as the JJD national spokesperson but later began working against the party’s ideology and leadership. He accused Renu of misleading party workers and others by allegedly taking money while promising jobs and favours.
According to Tej Pratap, the party expelled Renu on December 14 after receiving multiple complaints. He alleged that soon after the expulsion, Renu started abusing him and issuing death threats through social media platforms.
Despite repeated attempts by news agencies, Santosh Renu Yadav could not be contacted for his response.
Political Background and Recent Setbacks
Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, has faced political turbulence over the past year. He lost the Mahua assembly seat in the recent Bihar elections and was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal in May for six years.
Lalu Prasad had also publicly distanced himself from Tej Pratap, citing irresponsible conduct. The move came a day after Tej Pratap posted on social media claiming he was in a relationship, a post he later deleted, saying his account had been hacked.
Claims of Internal Conspiracy
After his expulsion from the RJD, Tej Pratap alleged a conspiracy to create a rift between him and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav. He expressed his anguish in multiple posts on X, blaming unnamed traitors and using the metaphor of “Jaichand” to describe those he held responsible.
As police continue to investigate the latest complaint, the case has added another layer of controversy to Tej Pratap Yadav’s already turbulent political journey.
