MP CM Mohan Yadav Praises Digvijaya for RSS Remarks, Invites Him to Join BJP
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday congratulated senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for acknowledging the organisational strength of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Taking the moment further, the Chief Minister publicly invited Singh to join the BJP—an offer the former Chief Minister firmly declined.
The exchange has triggered political chatter across the state, as it comes amid sharp ideological differences between the Congress veteran and the ruling BJP.
Digvijaya Singh’s Post Praising RSS-BJP Organisation
The controversy began after Digvijaya Singh shared an old photograph on social media platform X. The image shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi seated on the floor at the front, while senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani is seated behind him on a chair.

In his post, Singh described the image as powerful and symbolic of organisational discipline. He wrote that the photograph reflected how a grassroots RSS volunteer and a Jan Sangh-BJP worker rose to become the Chief Minister of a state and eventually the Prime Minister of the country. Singh called it a testament to the strength of the organisation.
The post quickly went viral and drew strong reactions from both Congress and BJP supporters.
Mohan Yadav’s Reaction and Invitation
Reacting to Singh’s remarks during a media interaction in Indore, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the BJP deserves such praise. He congratulated Digvijaya Singh for recognising the organisational capabilities of the RSS and BJP.
“Digvijaya Singh ji also deserves congratulations. Come, you are welcome to join the BJP,” Yadav said, extending a public invitation to the senior Congress leader.
Yadav’s statement was widely seen as both political outreach and a strategic remark aimed at highlighting BJP’s organisational confidence.
Digvijaya Singh Declines Offer
Later in the evening, when Digvijaya Singh arrived in Bhopal after attending a Congress Working Committee meeting, reporters asked him about Mohan Yadav’s invitation.
Singh brushed aside the question with a brief response, saying, “Oh, leave it,” before walking away. Political observers interpreted the remark as a clear rejection of the offer to join the BJP.
Earlier, Singh had clarified that his social media post was limited to appreciating organisational strength and should not be seen as a shift in ideology. He reiterated that he remains a strong critic of both the RSS and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Political Significance
The episode highlights the sharp yet nuanced nature of Indian politics, where admiration for organisational efficiency does not necessarily translate into ideological alignment. While the BJP used the opportunity to project confidence, Digvijaya Singh’s response reaffirmed his commitment to the Congress.
The exchange is likely to remain a talking point in Madhya Pradesh’s political circles in the coming days.
