Flower pots Vanish From Lucknow Roads Soon After PM Modi Visit
Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lucknow, an embarrassing incident surfaced from the city. People were spotted stealing flower pots that had been placed along roads for beautification ahead of the high-profile visit.
Several videos showing the incident has gone viral on social media and triggered strong reactions from users.
Viral Videos Show Flower Pots Being Taken Away
The videos, widely shared on social platforms, show several people picking up flower pots from roadsides and dividers in Lucknow. These pots were installed as part of city beautification efforts before PM Modi’s visit.
In the clip, individuals can be seen casually lifting the pots and walking away. Some appear to load them onto two-wheelers, while others carry them by hand. The incident reportedly took place shortly after the Prime Minister left the city.
The visuals shocked many viewers, as the pots were placed using public funds.
Preparations Made Ahead of PM’s Visit
Lucknow Development Authority and the Municipal Corporation had beautified key areas of the city, including Vasant Kunj Road and the Green Corridor to welcome the PM for the inauguration of the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal.
Hundreds of decorative flower pots and hanging plants were installed to enhance greenery. Considerable government funds were invested.
The effort aimed to present a clean and welcoming image of the state capital during the Prime Minister’s programme. However, the theft of the flower pots raised questions about civic sense and public responsibility.

Social Media Reacts With Anger and Sarcasm
The video sparked outrage online. Many users criticised the incident and called it a reflection of poor civic behaviour.
Some users questioned why people stole items meant for public use. Others blamed weak enforcement and lack of accountability. Several comments described the act as shameful and damaging to the city’s image.
A few users also used sarcasm, saying the beautification drive lasted only until the VIP visit ended.
Authorities Take Note
Following the viral videos, local officials said they were aware of the incident. Reports suggest that municipal authorities have started reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Officials said they would identify those involved and take appropriate action. Some officers also hinted at stricter monitoring of public property after major events.
Repeated Issue After High-Profile Visits
Such incidents have surfaced earlier as well, especially after major political or official visits. Temporary beautification measures often face neglect once the event ends.
Civic activists say the incident highlights the need for stronger awareness campaigns. They also stress the importance of protecting public assets paid for by taxpayers.
