ICAI Inducts 17,800 New CAs Across India, Know Which Region Leads
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducted its convocation ceremony simultaneously at 15 locations across the country, formally inducting 17,800 newly qualified Chartered Accountants into the profession.
The event marked a significant milestone for candidates who successfully completed the institute’s rigorous examination and training process.

The convocation ceremonies were held in parallel across major cities, with ICAI council members presiding over the proceedings at each centre.
Newly enrolled members received their certificates of membership, while rank holders were felicitated for their academic achievements.
National Inauguration from New Delhi
The convocation was formally inaugurated from New Delhi, where the chief guest addressed the newly inducted chartered accountants.
The ceremony was attended by ICAI President, Vice-President, Secretary, and members of the Central and Regional Councils.

According to an official statement, ICAI conducts the convocation twice every year to welcome new members who qualify through its structured education system, which includes examinations, articleship training, and ethical orientation.

Instead of releasing a single consolidated figure, ICAI shared a region-wise breakdown of newly enrolled members. These figures represent candidates who applied for enrolment between July 16, 2025, and November 30, 2025.

- Northern Region: 5,474
- Western Region: 5,195
- Eastern Region: 3,205
- Central Region: 2,670
- Southern Region: 1,256

This distribution highlights the nationwide reach of the profession and reflects enrolments across ICAI’s regional councils.

The convocation ceremonies took place at the following locations:

- Bengaluru
- Hyderabad
- Ghaziabad
- Ernakulam
- Vijayawada
- Ahmedabad
- Pune
- Indore
- Jaipur
- Chandigarh
- Ludhiana
Each centre conducted the ceremony concurrently, ensuring equal participation and recognition for members across regions.
Expanding Role of Chartered Accountants Highlighted
Speakers at the convocation stressed that the role of chartered accountants is rapidly evolving beyond traditional domains such as audit and taxation.
According to ICAI, chartered accountants are increasingly contributing to:
- Public finance management
- Transparency and accountability frameworks
- Digital governance systems
- Public sector audits
- Compliance mechanisms at central, state, and local levels
Special emphasis was placed on the growing involvement of CAs with Panchayati Raj institutions, municipal bodies, and government-backed development programmes.
Professional Ethics and Continuous Learning Emphasised
ICAI reiterated that membership in the institute carries significant responsibility. Newly inducted members were reminded that they must adhere to:
- ICAI’s code of ethics
- Professional conduct regulations
- Mandatory continuing professional education (CPE) norms
The institute stated that ethical integrity, professional competence, and lifelong learning remain the foundation of the chartered accountancy profession.
