The Gurugram club shooting has raised serious concerns about women’s safety after a 25-year-old woman was shot inside a nightclub on MG Road. Police said the attack followed her repeated refusal to marry the accused, who allegedly opened fire after confronting her at the club.

The incident occurred in the early hours of December 20 and triggered panic in one of the city’s busiest nightlife zones.

Incident Occurred on MG Road

According to police, the shooting took place at a club located on MG Road, Gurugram. The woman sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment.

Police received information about the firing during the night and reached the hospital, where doctors initially declared the victim unfit to record a statement due to her condition.

Husband Files Complaint

The victim’s husband, a resident of Najafgarh, later lodged a formal complaint with the police. He told investigators that his wife, Kalpana (25), worked at a club in Gurugram.

In his complaint, he named Tushar, a resident of Sangam Vihar, as the man who shot his wife.

He said Kalpana left for work on the evening of December 19. Around 1 am, she called him and said she had been shot at the club.

Prior Dispute Alleged

The complainant also informed police about a previous confrontation with the accused. He said Tushar had visited their house about a month earlier and argued with the family before leaving.

Police are now examining whether that earlier dispute had a direct connection with the shooting.

FIR Registered, Investigation Begins

Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR at Sector 29 Police Station. A crime unit team immediately launched a search operation to trace the accused. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the club and nearby areas to track the movements of the suspects after the firing.

Police have arrested Tushar alias Jonty and his friend Shubham alias Jony.

Two Accused Arrested from Uttar Pradesh

During the investigation, police arrested Tushar alias Jonty (25) and his friend Shubham alias Jony (24). Both accused are residents of Sangam Vihar in Delhi. Police teams traced and apprehended them from Baraut, officials said.

Accused Confesses During Interrogation

During questioning, police said Tushar admitted that he befriended the victim about six months ago. He told investigators that he wanted to marry her, but she repeatedly rejected his proposal.

Police alleged that on the night of December 19, Tushar and Shubham went to the club where Kalpana worked. Tushar allegedly proposed to her again. When she refused, he pulled out a firearm and shot her.
After the shooting, both accused fled the spot, police said.

Condition of Victim and Legal Action

Doctors are continuing treatment, and her condition is being closely monitored. Police said they will record her statement once doctors declare her fit.

The accused remain in custody and are being questioned. Police are also investigating how the firearm was procured and whether any other individuals were involved.

Safety Concerns Around Nightlife Zones

The incident has once again highlighted safety concerns for women working in nightlife establishments. Residents and activists have called for stricter security checks, enhanced patrolling, and better surveillance around clubs on MG Road.

Police officials said they are committed to ensuring justice and will take strict action against those responsible.

Investigation Ongoing

Police said further investigation is underway, and additional charges may be added based on evidence and forensic reports.

The Gurugram club shooting has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding stronger measures to prevent crimes linked to harassment, stalking, and gender-based violence.
