A BJP councillor’s husband in Satna district, in Madhya Pradesh, accused of raping a woman at knifepoint and threatening her using a video of the act, was arrested on Saturday late night, police said. The survivor alleges that Ashok Singh forced her into repeated sexual relations and abused her verbally at her workplace.
In a video circulating on social media, Singh is reportedly seen abusing a police officer and threatening the woman. He allegedly says, “What will happen to me? Nothing will happen. Complain wherever you want, nothing will happen to me.” Meanwhile, the woman cries in the background and mentions filing a complaint.
Complaint Filed with Police
The woman submitted a written complaint to Satna Superintendent of Police Hansraj Singh on Monday. She claimed the initial crime occurred six months ago, but she stayed silent due to threats to her life and family.
The SP transferred the case to Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Trivedi for investigation. Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the viral video and reviewing all available evidence.
Details of the Alleged Crime
According to the survivor:
- Ashok Singh entered her house and raped her at knifepoint.
- He recorded the assault on his phone and threatened to kill her and her family if she spoke out.
- On December 20, he allegedly molested her again and renewed threats, demanding compliance or threatening public humiliation using the video.
The woman also stated that Singh has a criminal background and was previously externed from the district. She said this history gave him confidence to act openly and intimidate her.
Continued Harassment
The survivor claims that Singh regularly visits her shop, abuses her verbally, and repeats threats, creating fear and harassment. She said she approached the police five days ago but has not seen any concrete action. She warned that authorities would be responsible if any harm comes to her or her family.
Police Response
Police officials confirmed they are examining the video and other evidence to verify its authenticity. Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the facts of the case.
