The operation focused on vulnerable and crime-prone areas, where coordinated raids took place late at night. Police said the drive aimed to deter criminal activity during the festive period, when crowds increase and the risk of law-and-order issues rises.

Focus on Habitual and Property Offenders

Under Operation Aaghat 3.0, police arrested 116 habitual offenders, often referred to as “bad characters,” along with 10 property offenders. The drive also targeted vehicle theft networks to protect revellers and commuters.

Police arrested five auto-lifters and seized 231 two-wheelers and one four-wheeler during the operation. Officers also recovered 210 stolen or lost mobile phones, which will be returned to their owners after verification.

Cash, Vehicles, and Gambling Rackets Busted

Senior officers said such preventive actions play a crucial role in maintaining order during high-footfall events like New Year celebrations. Police have assured continued vigilance across the capital to ensure a safe and crime-free start to the New Year.
