PM Modi Inaugurates Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow on Vajpayee’s 101st Birth Anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow on Wednesday, marking the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The memorial complex now stands as a tribute to leaders who shaped India’s political and ideological journey
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister unveiled three bronze statues dedicated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, and Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Leaders Who Shaped India’s Political Thought
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said the statues represent far more than physical structures. He emphasised that the inspiration drawn from these leaders exceeds the height of the statues themselves.
According to the Prime Minister, Vajpayee, Mookerjee, and Upadhyaya laid the ideological foundation of nationalism, public service, and inclusive governance. Their ideas, he said, continue to guide India’s development path even today.
From Garbage Dump to National Memorial
PM Modi highlighted the transformation of the Rashtra Prerna Sthal site. He said the 30-acre land once functioned as a massive garbage dump. Over the last three years, authorities cleared the area and developed it into a dignified national memorial.
He described the project as a symbol of how vision and commitment can convert neglect into inspiration. The memorial now serves as a space for reflection on India’s political values and leadership traditions.

Welfare Coverage Expanded from 25 Crore to 95 Crore
Speaking on governance, PM Modi said that before 2014, government welfare schemes covered only about 25 crore Indians. Today, nearly 95 crore people benefit from these schemes, including a large population in Uttar Pradesh.
He attributed this expansion to targeted delivery, transparency, and a focus on reaching citizens who were earlier left out of the system.
BJP Government Lifted Crores Out of Poverty
The Prime Minister said that over the last decade, crores of Indians have moved out of poverty due to sustained welfare initiatives and economic reforms. He stated that the BJP government prioritised the needs of the poorest sections and ensured that benefits reached them directly.
He added that inclusive development remains central to the government’s vision.
Remembering Vajpayee, Malviya and Maharaja Bijli Pasi
On December 25, PM Modi also remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee and renowned educationist Madan Mohan Malviya on their birth anniversaries. He highlighted their enduring contributions to nation-building and public life.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to Maharaja Bijli Pasi on his jayanti, acknowledging his historical legacy and role in regional history.
Top Leaders Attend the Event
The public gathering saw the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Defence Minister, and the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of people attended the event, making it one of the key political commemorations of the year in the state.
PM Modi concluded by urging citizens to draw inspiration from the ideals of the leaders commemorated at Rashtra Prerna Sthal and contribute actively to India’s progress.
