Bhopal Nurse Dies After Alleged Anaesthesia Overdose, Police Probe Live-In Partner
A 30-year-old nurse died in Bhopal on Thursday morning after allegedly taking an overdose of anaesthesia. The woman worked at JK Hospital and had lived in a live-in relationship for the past four years. Her death has prompted a police investigation following allegations by her family that emotional distress led to the extreme step.
Hospitalisation After Overdose
The incident unfolded on Wednesday night when the nurse reportedly consumed an excessive dose of anaesthesia. Her live-in partner rushed her to JK Hospital in an unconscious condition and got her admitted. Doctors treated her overnight, but she died during treatment on Thursday morning.
Family members later alleged that the woman had faced severe mental stress after her partner refused to marry her.
Partner Introduced Himself as “Brother”
Kolar police station in-charge Sanjay Soni said the deceased, Megha Yadav (30), daughter of Mayaram Yadav, lived in a rented room near JK Hospital. On Wednesday night, a man identified as Rupesh Sahu brought her to the hospital and introduced himself as her “sworn brother.”
After completing admission formalities, he left the hospital. When police arrived following the hospital’s intimation, he was not present.
Police registered a preliminary case and began an inquiry. A forensic team searched Megha’s rented room and seized medical items for examination.
Last Call to Nephew Raises Questions
Investigators learned that Megha spoke to her nephew on the phone shortly before the incident. Family members said she sounded normal during the call. Later that night, Rupesh called relatives from Megha’s phone to inform them about her hospitalisation.
When the family reached the hospital, they found Megha admitted but Rupesh absent. His phone had switched off, raising further suspicion.
Family Alleges Marriage Refusal
Megha’s younger brother, Raja Yadav, told police that Rupesh was his sister’s partner and that the two had lived together for nearly four years. The family knew about the relationship and had agreed to their marriage.
Raja said Rupesh spoke to the family about marriage around six months ago but began backing out over the past four months. He gradually reduced communication and stopped engaging with Megha in the last month, which deeply affected her mental state.
According to the family, Megha had shared her distress with her siblings and expressed anxiety about the uncertainty of the relationship.
Investigation Continues
Police are examining call records, medical evidence, and statements from colleagues and relatives to establish the sequence of events and determine responsibility. Officials said they will question Rupesh once they locate him.
Authorities have urged caution against speculation while the investigation remains ongoing.
