A Journey Rooted in Values and Service
Sachin Atulkar was born on August 8, 1984, in Madhya Pradesh. He grew up in a family where discipline and service to the nation were core values. His father, V.K. Atulkar, served as an officer in the Indian Forest Service (IFS), while his elder brother has served in the Indian Army.
This environment played a crucial role in shaping Sachin’s personality from an early age. A sense of responsibility towards society and the nation developed naturally, guiding his future choices.

Cracking UPSC in the First Attempt
Academically, Sachin Atulkar completed his Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree. Immediately after graduation, he began preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination with complete focus.
In 2006, he cleared the examination in his first attempt, securing All India Rank 258. At just 22 years of age, he became an IPS officer, placing him among the youngest officers in the service at the time. This achievement remains a defining part of his identity even today.
Sachin often says that unlike many aspirants, he never kept a backup plan. His decision was firm that he wanted to join the administrative services, and he gave his best without distraction.
Fitness is everything
IPS Sachin Atulkar is widely regarded as one of the fittest police officers in the country. For him, fitness is not a hobby but a lifestyle.

Before joining the police service, Sachin Atulkar had a strong connection with sports. He played national-level cricket in 1999, an experience that instilled discipline, teamwork and leadership qualities.
During IPS training, he took horse riding seriously and excelled in it. In 2010, he won a gold medal in national-level show jumping. The values learned through sports are clearly reflected in his administrative style today.

Currently, he is serving as IG Chambal range. Throughout his career, Sachin Atulkar has served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Indore, Bhopal, Ujjain and Sagar. He later held the position of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Chhindwara Range.
His working style is known for strict law enforcement combined with human sensitivity. He believes discipline and dialogue must go hand in hand.
